UN data shows: no famine in Gaza. Barely any reporting in mainstream news publications

The UN’s own latest Gaza nutrition survey blows apart the famine narrative: acute malnutrition among under-fives was just 0.2–0.8%.

• The UN report’s own conclusion: there is “no widespread acute malnutrition at population level”.

• Gaza’s pre-war acute-malnutrition rate was around 0.8%. The new measurements are therefore at or below the pre-war level.

• Gaza’s figures are lower than neighbouring countries: Egypt 2.9%, Jordan 2.0%, Syria over 12%. Even Bulgaria is 4%.

• The famine threshold is 30% acute malnutrition by WHZ. The new Gaza measurements are 0.2–0.8% — a tiny fraction of that threshold.

• Meanwhile, on 30 June Yvette Cooper (then the UK’s Foreign Secretary) described Gaza’s situation as “desperate” and announced another £23 million of British taxpayers’ money for UNRWA.

• Politicians and campaigners were talking about ‘starvation’ while the UN nutrition system was producing physical measurements showing extremely low acute malnutrition.
